Portable Units Meet Contractors’ On-Site Storage Needs

June 1, 2016 by Nicole Garraffo

portable-units-contractor-on-site-needs-ab-richardsContracting and construction is a large part of the US economy that deals with numerous business and logistical issues. The industry employs over 6 million people and is responsible for building structures worth nearly $1 trillion each year, according to the trade group Associated General Contractors of America. It’s also a very diverse sector that runs the gamut from small businesses with a single employee to large multi-national corporations. One common denominator throughout the industry is that contractors spend a great deal of time working at different sites. This creates unique storage needs, which must be met to get the job done well.  At A.B. Richards, we’re experts in mobile storage and we believe we have the right portable units for any contractor’s needs.

Contractor Uses for Portable Storage Units

For most contractors, a large part of the business needs to be mobile. Whether they’re taking part in a new construction project or working on an existing structure, contractors need to bring materials to job sites.  Portable storage units are perfect for materials that must be stored at the site or even at the contractor’s home office. There’s plenty of material that might need to be stored at the job such as wood, wiring, fixtures, pipes, roofing, carpeting, tile, paint cans, simple tools, masonry supplies and building stones. A.B. Richards has 20ft containers that are perfect for storing basic materials and keeping them close for when they’re needed. These smaller units are also ideal for when you have limited space on the site.

Storing Construction Equipment and Larger Items in Storage Units

Some of what you’re going to store may not be an easy fit. Some contractors need to bring heavy equipment to a site. You’ll need extra room for forklifts excavators, jackhammers or odd shaped tools. A contractor might have to clear furniture or appliances out of the home that’s being worked on. If the contractor is installing appliances, there might be a need to keep it stored until it’s ready to be hooked up. For larger sites that may be part of long-term construction projects, workers might need to set up a kitchen area for lunch and breaks. Our 40ft containers can take care of situations when you have a larger need for storage. You can also opt for 40ft Jumbo containers which give you an extra foot of overhead space. You’ll have your material and equipment on site and be able to start your day on time.

Storage Containers Keep Things Secure

When looking to take care of storage needs, a big consideration for contractors is security. You want to be able to keep materials safely locked up. Particularly if you are storing valuables like copper wiring or pipes, which is often stolen from constructions sites. A.B. Richards containers are secure and durable. They are made of 14-gauge steel and come with a heavy-duty exterior lock. In addition to being strong, our portable storage containers are durable and weather resistant. You don’t have to worry about your materials and equipment being damaged by heat, rain or heavy snow. The units are also fire resistant.

A.B. Richards serves New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and parts of Delaware and Massachusetts. We’re ready to serve all of your storage needs. Call (800) 597-5971 to get started.
